DJ GRAVY
Musician, Selector, and Publisher
DJ Gravy is a musician, selector, and publisher from New York City.
Described as a "frenzy" by Rolling Stone magazine and "iconic" by NPR, Gravy’s events have been attended by everyone from Mick Jagger, to Serena Williams, and Scarlett Johansson. He’s DJ’d alongside Diplo and Questlove and performed on stage with countless hip-hop, reggae, and soca legends, to mention a few.
In 2007, Gravy founded Rice and Peas, a unique event series that influenced the downtown nightlife circuit, trickling dancehall culture into New York's cutting-edge scene of young creatives. The party has had performances by Shaggy, Wayne Wonder, and Beenie Man, to mention a few. Damian Marley, Sean Paul, and Tarrus Riley have all attended.
Gravy's media outlet and agency, LargeUp.com, has partnered with Apple Music, Red Bull, and several Caribbean tourism boards, producing the first Caribbean music showcases at SXSW and Miami Music Week. Along with special events at Central Park SummerStage, Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center, and the boutique hotel circuit, the platform has helped launch and relaunch iconic recording artists into their prime.
Recognized for his extensive work with Sister Nancy, Gravy has been featured prominently in "Bam Bam: The Story of Sister Nancy." The documentary premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival 2024, followed by a performance by Sister Nancy and Gravy. Gravy was also featured in "Bad Like Brooklyn Dancehall," which premiered at Tribeca in 2023.
